Day 3: Rest for the 4th!

Happy 4th of July; I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday!  I worked first and then headed to the lake. I did a little swimming, a little eating, some running from my car to the boat dock!  Since it was a rest day, I did a lot of relaxing too! ;-)

I tried to watch what I munched on a little more closely; we are slowing improving our diet.

Today, Day 4, is 6 miles. This might be the real test of if I can follow the plan. I have work and then a meeting at 4:30 downtown.

Wish me luck.

Day 2: It was lovely at 10pm

Finally, after too much bad TV, the temperature had cooled down enough to head out on our 5 mile run. We mapped out a 4.5 route which involved a drink stop or two. We ran the first 2 and change to Walgreens, got a beverage, then headed back. We ran/walked the last half of the run. While we definitely walked more than probably needed, we did finish strong.

And it wasn't miserable... starting to get back into it.

Today is rest day, so we will be enjoying the afternoon and early on the boat!  (I have to work during the day)... perhaps a little swimming cross training!

Thursday has 6 scheduled.. oh boy!

Day 1: Thought we did 4...

So last night, around 9:15, we headed out for the planned 4 mile run. We had to drop of money at the bank, so we figured we would run there. We thought it was a little over a mile and a half each way. We then did up and down the street to try and get to around 4. Well, I mapped our route this morning, and it was just 3 miles. Good to know.

Although we were a mile short, we still made the effort. Had I been able to find my Garmin charged, we could have done better. Tonight I am going to either find my watch, or map out a 5 mile route first.

The run felt pretty good; we walked a block or so in the beginning, and then after stopping at the bank another block or two, but ran otherwise. It's a start.

Training Plan Found!

It is 15 weeks until the Nike Women's Marathon, and despite the occasional run around the block with T, there has not been any real training. I always enjoy making a plan, but I think I may it a little too ambitious, and I never end up following it.

Then came a wonderful email from the people at Nike. Nike put together three training plans specifically designed for the Nike Women's Marathon. One is to finish, one to PR, and one super advanced; each is 15 weeks long. I am doing the PR Training Plan.

The plan starts tomorrow.

Tomorrow, not Tuesday or Wednesday... or next week.

Tomorrow, Monday July 2, 2012.

I did a quick 1 mile around the block this evening; thinking about setting a goal to run at least 1 mile each day.

Tomorrow is 4 miles... I may have to walk more than I run, but it will get done.
